The new Gyrotrak technology combines an almost 100-year-old basic aerodynamic principle with the latest high-tech technology.
Airial Robotics, with its headquarters in Hamburg and branches in Hungary and Great Britain, has introduced an innovative UAV carrier system that redefines the possibilities of commercial drone applications: the completely newly developed and patented technology platform Gyrotrak. Based on a new hybrid concept, Airial Robotics has created a new drone class that significantly exceeds the current industry standards in terms of flight time, payload, range and efficiency and at the same time has a highly modular system architecture that can be adapted to all types of missions.
“Our Gyrotrak technology is a disruptive hybrid UAV solution between helicopter and autogyro. The innovative combination of the advantages of both systems creates such a unique and special technical platform that the current industry standards are left behind and Gyrotrak becomes a real game changer. With Gyrotrak, we can at least double important factors such as flight time, range and payload compared to conventional multicopter systems. In addition, long hover flights and multiple take-offs and landings are no problem, which is not the case or possible with many VTOL fixed-wing solutions, ”said Jörg Schamuhn, co-founder and CEO of Airial Robotics.
Gyrotrak has a versatile, modular and individually adjustable structure that is ideal for the commercial market, where the various application areas require effective new solutions that are tailored to their needs. The new UAV type meets the requirements of numerous industries, including agriculture, logistics, inspection, and security and surveillance.
Gyrotrak: the best of two worlds
The principle of autorotation of the main rotor known from Autogyros not only ensures that the new Gyrotrak platform requires very little energy and has high flight stability when flying forward, but also that the UAV can land safely even in the event of an engine failure. At the same time, the new hybrid solution has the positive characteristics of a helicopter that can hover precisely on site, fly backwards if necessary, or perform several vertical take-offs and landings during a mission.
The first product based on the new concept is the new, fully electric GT20 Gyrotrak. It has a maximum takeoff weight of 20 kg and can carry out LOS and BVLOS flights. Depending on the application, the payload of 12.5 kg can be distributed between the battery and the additional load. If the GT20 Gyrotrak is equipped with a professional camera with a weight of approx. 500 g, it can stay in the air for approx. 2.5 hours and travel up to 150 km at cruising speeds of 90 km / h.
