CAE turns into first Canadian aerospace firm to turn out to be carbon impartial – Drones Information

Montreal, Canada, October 6, 2020 (NYSE: CAE; TSX: CAE) – CAE announced today that it has become carbon neutral as of September 28, 2020 and is proud to be the first Canadian aerospace company to achieve this goal. The company has achieved carbon neutrality by further reducing its own emissions and investing in projects that offset the remaining annual carbon emissions.

“This is a bold achievement, and we hope that CAE’s commitment to fighting climate change will inspire other companies to take concrete action today,” said Marc Parent, president and chief executive officer of CAE. β€œWe wanted to recognize our commitment before the pandemic and increase our contribution now – proof of CAE’s environmental leadership and commitment to future generations. We are also working with the industry to develop electric aircraft and take other measures to reduce our overall emissions. “

Right from the start, CAE has helped prevent hundreds of thousands of tons of CO2 from being emitted every year by training pilots in simulators. Carbon Offsets and Renewable Energy Certificates are additional interim measures that CAE takes as new technologies and solutions to reduce emissions are developed. CAE will continue to take other measures to reduce overall emissions, such as continuously investing in the energy efficiency of its full flight simulators to enable its customers worldwide to reduce their own footprint.

CAE offsets its carbon footprint by investing in renewable energy certificates in the countries it operates in, as well as funding greenhouse gas reduction projects, including wind energy projects in India and forest conservation in Canada. These investments lead to a reduction in CO2 emissions, which corresponds to emissions from the fuel used for live training flights in the academies, the energy consumption at the locations worldwide and from the business trips of all employees.

“I am delighted that Canadian companies are demonstrating their leadership in the fight against climate change by working towards the green recovery of our aerospace industry,” said Navdeep Bains, Minister for Innovation, Science and Industry for Canada. β€œI would like to congratulate CAE on this challenge. It’s inspirational for both Canadian industry and future generations. “

“I welcome this important contribution from CAE to the development of tomorrow’s aerospace industry,” said Pierre Fitzgibbon, Quebec Minister for Business and Innovation. β€œThis is a step in the right direction to ensure an environmentally friendly economic recovery in Quebec. This achievement shows the real dynamism of our aerospace industry and confirms that Quebec remains a good place to make large investments in the environment and in innovation projects. “
