Are you missing your favorite NBA fantasy rivalry? In the Drone Racing League you will find out what will be the sporting antidote to our common cabin fever.

The DRL teams up with FanDuel and gives the fantasy sports giant access to the DRL SIM Tryouts Final 2020, the world’s only esports tournament between players and pilots.

The virtual drone race showdown will be streamed live at 9 p.m. tonight. EDT on DRL’s Twitter, Twitch and YouTube.

FanDuel has access to official DRL SIM data, as well as league tokens and logos to create official daily fantasy competitions for the 2020 DRL SIM Tryouts Final.

“At a time when fans want access to sports competitions more than ever, we are excited to stream live the 2020 DRL SIM Tryouts, a unique esports that transforms players into professional drone pilots overnight, and fans with prizes rewarding exciting new partnership with FanDuel, ”said Nicholas Horbaczewski, CEO / Founder of DRL.

Thousands of FPV (First Person View) pilots from 75 countries took part in the fourth annual test drives earlier this year. You drove over 136,000 runs in 12 qualifying tournaments on the DRL simulator. With a drone racing simulation via the video game service Steam, several talented pilots reached the final event tonight.

“Participation in tryouts has increased by 90 percent since last year, and almost 2 million fans have already streamed the online competitions live,” said a media statement from DRL.

Final viewers can take part in a free competition on FanDuel to win a share of $ 3,000 in FanDuel credit. The competition follows FanDuel’s standard fantasy standard format, and tryout racers receive points for winning, second or third place in each run as they navigate a “charged 3D track” by virtual DRL drones.

The victorious pilot receives a professional league contract and flies as a DRL SIM pilot in the 2020 season of the DRL Allianz World Championship.

The tryout winner, who combines the virtual with the real, will compete against elite pilots in the 2020 season and fly tailor-made DRL Racer4 drones at a speed of up to 150 km / h on complex routes. Last year’s tryout winner, Minnesota-born Christopher “Phluxy” Spangler, won the top pilots podiums three times and won a level event.

“We remain committed to our fans and are currently working on developing new and fun games for them to play,” said Kip Levin, President of FanDuel. “By partnering with The Drone Racing League, we can partner with an innovative league to give our fantasy customers more opportunities to play.”
