Flirtey, the pioneer of the commercial drone delivery industry, announced today that it has been granted a new patent that is critical to the security of drone delivery. This granted patent describes security-enhancing technologies such as safely landing a drone in the event of a parachute failure and directing the drone toward a safe location.

This is the third patent in the critical area of drone delivery security granted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Flirtey in 2020.

Flirtey announces this new granted patent as it celebrates the fifth anniversary of the “Kitty Hawk Moment” when Flirtey made its first US drone delivery on July 17, 2015 in Wise County, Virginia. The Air & Space Magazine of the Smithsonian Institution This historic milestone was reported: “It was the FAA’s blessing to fly. And that made it the first official delivery of drone packages in this country. “The Flirtey delivery drone that achieved this first shipment is on display in the Thomas W. Haas We All Fly gallery at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. The museum also shows the Wright brothers’ Wright Flyer, which was the first official flight of a motorized flying machine that is heavier than air.
Flirtey previously unveiled its next-generation delivery drone, the Flirtey Eagle, at the National Press Club in Washington, DC. Flirtey is actively seeking a type certificate for the Flirtey Eagle.
