Skyports Companions with Robotic Skies to Develop a UAS Upkeep Programme for Drone Supply and Past – Drones Information
London, United Kingdom (Wednesday), July 29, 2020 – Drone delivery service provider Skyports announced today its partnership with Robotic Skies, the worldwide network for the maintenance, repair and overhaul of commercial unmanned aerial vehicle systems (UAS).
Skyports specializes in the operation of end-to-end drone deliveries in the fields of medicine, e-commerce and logistics. The company is delivering medical drone deliveries to help the NHS in Scotland fight COVID-19. In addition, as a participant in the Regulatory Sandbox of the British Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Skyports is working to advance regulatory approvals that promote operations beyond the line of sight (BVLOS) and promote the safe integration of these flights into non-separate airspace. Key to realizing a permanent drone delivery service.
Duncan Walker, CEO of Skyports, said: “Certified maintenance is critical to fully enable permanent commercial delivery of drones. With Robotic Skies, our fleet of UAV systems will meet the same safety standards as traditional certified aircraft. This partnership enables us to further demonstrate our commitment to the safe operation and integration of delivery drones with other airspace users and supports our plans to expand our service network internationally. “
Through partnerships with companies such as Skyports, Robotic Skies provides local UAS and drone delivery fleet operators with local maintenance services. The company’s own system combines expertise in unmanned aircraft systems and traditional aviation maintenance methods to provide high quality, scalable services. The Robotic Skies Service Center network includes over 200 independent and operated certified repair stations in more than 40 countries.
Robotic Skies founder and CEO, Brad Hayden, said: “We are excited to partner with Skyports to drive the expansion of drone delivery and other BVLOS flight operations in the UK and beyond. Our global service center network offers high-quality support services where Skyports customers need them. Because we use the existing manned aviation infrastructure, we offer the highest quality, safety and consistency in our programs to satisfy operators, regulators and manufacturers. “
Maintenance standards provide an essential framework for the safety and continuing airworthiness of certified UAS as they evolve to carry heavier payloads, fly longer distances, and move people within and between urban environments.
Skyports will also work with Robotic Skies to develop maintenance programs and facilities for the emerging Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) industry. Skyports designs, builds and operates Vertiport networks to enable safe and efficient operation of passenger air taxis and cargo drones in the world’s major cities.
