THOR VTOL Completes Environmental Qualification Assessments Forward of Supply of 1,000 Items – Drones Information
Elbit Systems’ THOR, a mini-unmanned mini-aircraft system (UAS) for vertical takeoff and landing with multiple rotors (VTOL), successfully completed a series of environmental qualification tests before delivering more than a thousand units to an army in southeast Asia. The environmental qualification tests measured the service life of the THOR VTOL mini-UAS under a range of extreme environmental conditions and its ability to withstand the physical stress requirements of MIL-STD-810. The tests have shown that THOR is able to remain functional at temperatures from minus 40 ° C to 65 ° C, withstand strong gusts and rough vibrations and withstand penetration and damage by sand and dust.
The THOR VTOL Mini-UAS is designed for surveillance and reconnaissance missions over land and at sea. THOR is electrically powered and can carry a payload of up to three kg. The flight duration is up to 75 minutes, the maximum range 10 kilometers and the upper flight limit up to 2,000 feet.
