UAS Partnership – Boynton Aerospace Science Academy – Drones Information
On September 10, 2020, BASA worked with VolAero Drones from Miami and Easy Aerial from New York to give our students a demo of Easy Aerial’s advanced UAS. Students received technical operations information from Senior Drone Engineer, Mr. Kalaitzidis, and interacted with Mr. Sanders of VolAero Drones – the company that provided Super Bowl LIV (in Miami) UAS security.
The demonstration included information about the UAS hardware specifications and software capabilities as our students prepare for a long-distance flight mission to New York City. Students enrolled in the Principles of Aeronautical Science (AS 120) did a thorough review of METARs near the launch sight and eventually made the difficult decision of protecting property and mitigating risk. In doing so, they prepared to make difficult, real-time decisions that consider: UAS operational constraints, environmental factors, safety precautions, and customer risk management.
The BASA program thanks its industrial partners for their assistance in providing world-class aviation education for its students. BASA is a partnership between Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the Palm Beach School District.
